It’s not easy writing this review and not give any spoilers. There is so much that happens in this touching story. The first part of the story had me in tears because of time lost and misunderstandings. Other parts had me feeling mixed emotions of anger(over what someone was doing), shock and then feel good moments.Leo….A decorated war hero that was haunted by his days at war comes home a changed man and fights to overcome alcohol addiction. He becomes a hero to homeless people and has a heart of gold.
Certain circumstances bring Mia, (who is afraid to love someone) and Jax , (dealing with some insecurity of a war injury ) manage to find each other and expose some illegal activity surrounding a clinic.
This is book 8 of the Sutton Capital Series and we do see a couple of characters from previous books , but it definitely can be read as a stand alone book. It is a perfect blend of romance and suspense.
We are left with a few unanswered questions at the end of the book. Normally this bothers me but I know I would get the next book in this series either way.
I enjoy Lori Ryan’s smooth and easy style of writing.
I was fortunate to be able to read this book early.

If your looking for a great series to read Sutton Capital is for you. Lori Ryan does a great job of bringing the characters to life and that you
care about. Cutthroat is a good read and I actually learned a few things about wounded vets. Lori researches her topics and puts a lot
of heart into her books. Enjoyable!

I have loved the Sutton Capitol Series from the beginning, Cutthroat is a wonderful addition. First you have to love Jax and Mia, they are perfect together. What a simple, beautiful relationship they have. While Mia had reason to mistrust men starting with her dad's disappearance from her life, she instinctively knows Jax is one of the good guys. I really enjoyed that Jax never fought his attraction to Mia.
I will warn this ends in a little bit of a cliffhanger, though you can read it as a stand-alone. You get your happily ever after but the mystery throughout the story carries on to the next book.
Once again Lori Ryan has done it! This book touched my heart in many ways. As a military spouse, the plight of Leo and Jax is something I have seen. Touching on serious subject matter in a way that kept me engaged and wanting to see what happens next. Mia was a strong woman and a sad little girl who just wanted to have a relationship with her father, without admitting it. Fear, anger, and tragedy all mixed in leads to a great love story. Add in a determined Detective Jarrod and the story kept me actively waiting for the next page. I cannot wait for the next installment.

WOW, what can I say other than Lori Ryan has done it again!! This is a series within a series and you're going to love it. I've read every book and they just get better. Jax is a ex military hero that you will love, he's hurting and scarred and his character is so raw that's what I loved about him. Than there's Mia, she's strong, determined, doesn't like to let man get close because of her relationship with her father. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and begging for the next book!! I can't wait to read about Jarrod. This was a phenomenal read and one I highly recommend.
This was a new installment in the Sutton Capital series but I didn't think it was quite as good as the others. I wasn't really sold on the plot although I did like the characters. Jax received a military discharge after losing part of a leg while deployed in the service. Now he works for Sutton Capital as one of their "tech and savvy guys". He also helps his friend, Leo, an older vet who'd been homeless until Jax stepped in. And although Leo is trying to pay Jax back, what he doesn't realize is that he was there for Jax when Jax first got home and was battling demons of his own.
Mia is Leo's daughter. Leo walked out on Mia and her mom when Mia was very young. She knew he had a problem with alcohol but never understood what happened to make him walk out and Mia's mother refused to tell her. She keeps insisting Mia talk to her father. Before that can happen Leo passes away.
Jax discovers Leo was involved in some kind of illegal drug trial that might have caused his heart attack. The mystery ends in a cliffhanger that continues on into the next book. This was a turn off for me as I really don't like cliffhangers. And I wasn't invested enough in this book to make me want to spend the money on the next one.
Cutthroat is highly suspenseful and I couldn't put it down. Jax initiates the search into Mia's estranged father's death which leads him to suspect that a drug trial may have caused more than one death. The tale is complex and written in several points of view as the police detectives investigate Leo's death. Mia and Jax become involved with each other as well as in the investigation. I loved that Mia didn't pity or place much importance on Jax's amputation. Both Mia and Jax are wonderful characters and their romance is weaved throughout the story. This is a great addition to the Sutton Capital Series.
Sutton Capital series book 8 is another hit romantic suspense novel from Lori Ryan. Jaxon Cutter is a war vet that made it out without a leg but escaped most of the PTSD of other vets have. He is satisfied with coming home alive. When he befriends Leo Kent, a homeless vet, and helps get him off the street they quickly become close friends. When Leo dies unexpectedly from a heart attack and his apt is broken into but nothing seems missing Jax becomes suspicious. Jax had briefly met Leo's estranged daughter when she discovered where her father was living. They are brought back together when Leo dies. As Jax suspicions grow larger he and Mia are determined to find out who and what is taking the lives of the less fortunate. A great suspense novel, I love the strong characters that have less that perfect pasts and no one is complaining. A compelling story of hardship, love and life.
